What a Day in the Life of a MC ResidentIf you’ve been researching memory care for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia, you’ve likely learned all about the services, features, and the wonderful benefits of this type of senior living in helping them thrive. While these are all important in comparing communities to find just the right fit, you may still be wondering what your loved one will experience on a day-to-day basis. We can help.

Here’s what daily life is like for a memory care resident in one of our communities.

The Senior Living Lifestyle for Memory Care Residents

Our memory care program is designed with residents in mind. We know that dementia can make daily life a struggle whether it’s completing tasks or simply feeling comfortable and relaxed. That’s why the basis of the lifestyle for our memory care residents is to provide a sense of structure, routine, and familiarity, as well as to make life easier.

This starts with a secure environment that includes a thoughtfully-designed apartment-style suite with an accessible design and contrasting colors to enhance independence. We also provide daily light housekeeping and weekly linen service to remove that burden from your loved one’s shoulders. Plus, our specially-trained staff is available 24/7 to help with personal care, to manage medications, and to compassionately support your loved one’s health and wellness plan.

A Typical Day in Memory Care

Each day, memory care residents have numerous ways to engage their brain without being overwhelmed. We offer social activities and amenities that encourage connection, creativity, and enrichment in small group settings. Your loved one will also have opportunities to stay active each day.

We know that Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia progress differently for each person, and as such, we work to customize the experience for memory care residents based on where they are in their journey. So, the day may look different depending on a resident’s specific needs and cognitive abilities.
